Melbourne antifa blog to keep your eyes on
@ndy’s blog over at slackbastard is one you should keep your eyes on, if you are interested in keeping up to date with what is going on in the far right, paying particular concern to what is happening in Australia and Melbourne.
Despite its promise of slackness, slackbastard definitely deserves an honourable mention for its commitment to anti-fascism.
Although One Nation are more or less dead and buried, what with all their ideas being pinched by the Liberal and Australian Labor Parties and all, one of his more recent posts on rants against Jews by a One Nation leader might be of interest to some of our readers.
Our friends over at radio613 told us recently about an anti-Semitic attack on one of their presenters, Avi. Avi told how:
at one point I might have reported such an attack to a Jewish agency, but at this point in time groups like the Bnai Brith seem to take control of statistics around anti-Semitism and using it time and time again to promote especially post-9-11, to promote anti-Arab anti-Islam racism…and you can see that all the time, they end up mentioning Hezbollah when a synagogue is vandalised…without any evidence that this is the case.
I feel this is one of the great things about the blog, that it is broadly anti-fascist. Make no mistake @ndy is:
gay in San Francisco, black in South Africa, an Asian in Europe, a Chicano in San Ysidro, an anarchist in Spain, a Palestinian in Israel, a Mayan Indian in the streets of San Cristobal, a gang member in Neza, a rocker in the National University, a Jew in Nazi Germany, an ombudsman in the Defense Ministry, a communist in the post-Cold War era, an artist without gallery or portfolio… A pacifist in Bosnia, a housewife alone on Saturday night in any neighborhood in any city in Mexico, a striker in the CTM, a reporter writing filler stories for the back pages, a single woman on the subway at 10 pm, a peasant without land, an unemployed worker… an unhappy student, a dissident amid free market economics, a writer without books or readers, and, of course, a Zapatista in the mountains of southeast Mexico. So Andy is a human being, any human being, in this world. Andy is all the exploited, marginalized and oppressed minorities, resisting and saying, ‘Enough’!
[NB. Andy is also a bogan saying “Pies in 2010!”]
Go check it out (even if you watched the Pies slaughter the Tiges and thought this wasn’t a cool thing).
